Rumor Mill: the Sony Ericsson W150 TeaCake

It may be an unconfirmed handset for now, but we are certainly excited to see the W150 TeaCake Android smart phone that was leaked in images just a day ago. From the looks of it, this phone is slated to be a great media-playing mid range handset that will certainly attract plenty of users.

More than the Nokia’s X6 (or the whole eXpress Music series), the Walkman technology from Sony focuses heavily on being able to deliver a comprehensive listening experience for the user. Of course, playback will still be limited to the actual bitrate and quality of encoding of the audio file, but at least the player will certainly be able to deliver the best audio possible –and Sony’s preset equalizer settings bring out the best in any speaker setup.

Focusing on the TeaCake itself, this phone is certainly tuned for casual smart phone users. Folks who want an Android to run many apps and games might want to get other Sony Ericsson Android devices like the XPERIA X10 –the TeaCake is focused more on music playback and of course, social networking.

With a 2.6 inch TFT capacitive touch screen display and a 5 mega pixel camera, the phone really comes out looking a lot like the X10 Mini in terms of both form and specs. This is not bad either, as the X10 Mini is already a pretty good device. If the W150 is simply Walkman version of the Mini, it would still be a great addition to SE’s Android lineup.

Speaking of the Android lineup for SE; there are two other smart phones that were leaked along with the SE TeaCake –the Shakira and a yet to be named Android handset with a 5.5 inch touch screen display. While the TeaCake is certainly worth looking forward to, it is hard to deny that the most exciting of the group is the Android with a large touch screen –the screenshot showed that it can even fold up to be used as a mini netbook.

Sony Ericsson Brings Out New Mobile Phones for 2010

February 19, 2010Sony EricssonNo Comments

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini ProThis week has been full of surprises -thanks mostly to last Sunday’s Mobile World Congress.

The Japanese Swedish joint venture Sony Ericsson had its own share of news with the reveal of the new X10 Mini, X10 Mini Pro and the Vivaz Pro. Already we have seen many of the initial specs and images of the XPERIA X10, Vivaz and the Aspen –three major SE devices that many wanted see.

The XPERIA X10 is an Android smart phone that runs on the Snapdragon processor. It also has an impressive 4 inch capacitive touch screen and it uses the new Timescape and Mediascape user interface. The only flaw about this smart phone is that like most high end smart phones, it is not a good device for the general market. Not everyone will dish out the money for a Snapdragon powered behemoth.

SE’s answer to this is the X10 Mini and the X10 Mini Pro. Both of these two devices share the same watered down specs of the XPERIA X10, at the added bonus of a significantly smaller size and a cheaper price tag. The “Pro” in the second smart phone connotes the presence of a slide out physical QWERTY keyboard.

The Vivaz Pro is pretty much the same. It is a Vivaz Symbian smart phone with the ability to record in 720p HD video and has an additional slide out QWERTY keyboard. There is one more difference between the two devices; the Vivaz Pro only has a 5 mega pixel camera while the original Vivaz has an 8 mega pixel camera.

The Aspen Greenheart smart phone which runs the new Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Maldives OS is unlikely to ever get a Pro version since it already has a physical keyboard.
