The new phone has completely revolutionized the concept of eco-friendly touch phone. It is no more the low energy consuming phone of the past with limited features. Despite being commercial products, it is the representation of the commitment of Samsung in protecting the environment against threats that tend to disturb the ecological balance around. December 1, 2009SamsungNo Comments

Samsung S7550 Blue EarthKorean mobile phone giant Samsung has just unraveled its latest environment-friendly mobile phone to join the growing lists of similar green handsets – the Samsung Blue Earth. We got to see its first outing at the 2009 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona early this year but somehow got buried under a slow of stunning handsets released one after another over the last few months.

A Commitment to Mother Earth

The Blue Earth may look like just another touchscreen smartphone, but it is a significant contribution to the save-the-earth movement. That’s what JK Shin, EVP and head of the Mobile Communication Division at Samsung Electronics had to say about it. He further adds that towards this ends, the Blue Earth uses “reclaimed materials, in this case plastic water bottles…free from Brominated flame retardants, PVC and phthalate.  It can be charged using a set of solar panels on the reverse.”

That, in a nutshell, describes the Blue Earth’s environment friendly features. Nothing is too small for the effort.

Smartphone Features

Its eco-friendly features aside, the Samsung Blue Earth is a versatile smartphone with the features that define an upscale high performing handset.  It’s a GSM handset that works on GPRS, EDGE and HSDPA data networks.  It has a 3-inch touchscreen display, WiFi, Bluetooth and a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash.  While memory is a bit most at 180 MB, you can expand it from its microSD slot for up to 14 GB.

Software-wise, there’s a unique “Eco Mode” which automatically dims the display backlight as disengages Bluetooth when not in use. It also has this application called Eco Walk that tells you your contribution to help reduced carbon emission as well as acts like a pedometer when you walk instead of taking your car. In addition, there’s full internet browsing and an uploading facility to update all your social networking sites in a flash.

Availability

Samsung is releasing the Blue Earth first in Sweden and then the rest of Europe and Asian countries to follow.  We hope to see this in time for Christmas.

Nature friendly Samsung Blue Earth at your service

October 6, 2009SamsungNo Comments

Samsung S7550 Blue EarthThe Samsung Blue Earth has been created with conservation of the environment in mind. The phone itself as well as the retail box have been made out of recycled material and the back of the phone features a solar panel which enables you to charge the battery by using sunlight. Unlike most of the other natural offerings out there, the solar panel is not the only top feature in the phone. The phone has a 3 inch screen which is touch sensitive, a TouchWiz user interface and a fairly good set of features which is sure to make a big impact when it is released in the 4th quarter of this year. Samsung Blue Earth Reviews have been good, so let’s take the phone for a spin.

We mentioned earlier that the phone was made from recycled materials. To be more precise, the phone is made from recycled water bottles, which is really cool. The phone has a real solid build and you won’t feel, not even for a fleeting moment, that the phone is bad in any way. The production of the phone has not involved any product which is harmful to nature. The phone has a very appealing design and the nice mystic blue colour scheme will surely make heads turn when you are in a crowd.

The 3 inch capacitive touchscreen enables you to navigate through the phone with a flick of your finger. The call accept and call reject buttons are situated under the screen but don’t have any backlighting in order to save up on battery power. The phone makes use of an all – in – one microUSB port which enables you to connect the phone to a computer in addition to charging the phone or plugging in a pair of headphones. The phone has a 3 megapixel camera as well, making it a great earth – friendly phone overall. We are highly anticipating all the great Samsung Blue Earth deals that we are going to see coming out in the near future.
