Nokia 5230 takes the market by storm with its affordability
Nokia have become more serious and have shown a greater level of dedication in building up their touch screen phones portfolio. We first saw this in the release of the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, which was released to cater to the mid – market after the release of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and, now, we have the Nokia 5230, which will cater to the entry – level market.
The Nokia 5230 is eerily similar to the Nokia 5800 but doesn’t have Wi-Fi or a 3.2 megapixel camera. Instead, it comes with a 2 megapixel camera with fixed – focus, which is a real shame.
The physical dimensions of the 5230 are also similar to the 5800, to the extent that you would be forgiven for thinking that it was a 5800. It has the very same 3.2 inch resistive touchscreen (640×360 pixels resolution), 3.5 mm headset jack (to use your favourite headset with the phone, rather than the proprietary one) and a microSD memory card slot to expand the memory of the phone. Though the camera has been downsized, the video recording remains somewhat intact, capable of recording VGA quality videos @ 30 fps.
The 5230 comes armed with an awesome battery, the same 1320 mAh battery that is used in the 5800 XpressMusic. This will ensure that your phone will be able to survive longer on a single charge, unlike the 5530, which possess a 1000 mAh battery. The 5230 will be capable of 33 hours of continuous music playback, according to Nokia.
The phone runs on the Symbian S60 5th edition, which has been made exclusively for Nokia touchscreen phones. The phone is set to be released before the end of the year for a retail price of 150 euro (£140) before any taxes or subsidies. If you want the Comes With Music service as well, you will have to pay a total of 259 euro (£236). Nokia 5230 Reviews have been impressive, so don’t miss out on this phone! There are likely to be many Nokia 5230 deals on offer when it is released so make sure you shop around first.
