Coolest Handset Palm Pre Launched In UK
It has been reported by the Guardian that O2 has clinched the deal for exclusive right as the network for the Palm Pre, the passionately anticipated mobile phone. Web OS platform on Palm Pre is not only for the Sprint service and the products based on Web OS will ultimately be accessible on other carriers also, but no announcement has been made yet. Any notification on the handset are managed in the same way as in G1, so if you get a message or there is a calendar event, WebOS scales back the application and brings the dialog at the base of the screen. According to Palm this allows you to control when and how you will respond to alerts and not just dismiss them.
This OS has something which Palm has named Synergy, and it lets you combine all calendars and contacts from various sources, without changing or integrating any data. This means that Synergy will take the contacts from Gmail, Facebook as well as Outlook, and join them into a “stack” of information on the name of that person on the handset.
There is no surety if the Palm Pre handset comes with flash. Video recording is not a possibility on the Pre presently but this is something which will come from Palm as a future upgrade. This sounds a little disappointing, as Palm Pre is shown as an internet mobile phone, and videos generated by user generated is an important part of the virtual world. Pre is shipped with features like MMS messaging and copy, paste which is not offered on the iPhone, and iPhone users have been asking for some time.
