iPad Battery: A Case of Déjà vu
If you have been taking notes on mobile devices for the past few years, then you would be pretty familiar with the whole problem with Apple’s first generation iPod devices (along with some other versions of the digital music player).
Anyway, it looks like Apple is already preparing a just-in-case plan for would be iPad owners as they have just confirmed that all iPad tablet devices will be guaranteed for a battery life of over ten hours.
Now, there is no confirmation yet on what the requirements for the ten hours are. We seriously doubt that the device can handle 10 hours of continuous video playback or while running a resource intensive app, but at least the report does confirmed that Apple will be backing up previously untested claims regarding the battery life of the touch screen tablet.
According to Steve Jobs in an earlier statement, Apple had yet to push the device to its limits and would be unable to support the claim regarding the battery life. Now it looks like they are all set to back up the original rumors regarding the battery life.
Still, despite the guarantee, there is also the possibility that this offer exists because they are already expecting a problem with the device. Just like Microsoft’s decision to give a full warranty coverage to any Xbox 360 owner that has suffered an error called the “red ring of doom/death” (or simply, RRoD), the warranty by Apple on the iPad may be due to a problem in the hardware that they have found just recently.
Considering that some time ago, there were reports that Apple’s iPad manufacturers in China were having problems it is possible that the batteries for the touch screen device may have been the ones that caused the delay.
